Start with the silhouette

Look at your gown from the front, side, and back. Decide what you want the veil to reveal: a low back, a sculptural shoulder, delicate lace, or a long train. A simple veil gives detailed fabric room to be seen; a pearl or lace finish can add interest to a cleaner silhouette.

Choose your length in context

Picture the aisle, the photographs, and the space around you. Cathedral lengths create a sweeping line, while shorter veils keep the effect light. Measure from the position of the comb to your preferred hem with your wedding shoes on.

Match the tone in daylight

Ivory, soft white, and warmer shades can look different next to your gown. Compare fabric samples in natural light and under the lighting of your fitting room. A photograph is a starting point, not a reliable color match.

Bring your hairstyle into the decision

Ask your hairstylist where the comb will sit and how the veil will be secured. Try sitting, turning, and walking. If you plan to remove it after the ceremony, practice that transition before the day.

Make one complete fitting

Bring the veil, jewelry, shoes, and any hair accessory to the same fitting. Photograph the complete look, including the back. Give yourself time to make a considered change.
